Running Brave was sponsored by the Keller 4-H Club. They had been saving money for several years from work projects and when they heard about the carousel restoration decided that would be their project. Having only $400 of the necessary $1000, they petitioned and received the balance from Colville Confederated Tribes. Running Brave was designed and painted by Sandy Shiflett. She made the horse an appalousa mustang with traditional feathers and war paint on the rump. He also sports a 4-H symbol and a sun flower carving on the saddle to honor the Keller area.
