This type of ride is called a dobbie. A dobbie ride features hanging animals. There is no platform, and the animals do not ride up and down on a crankshaft.

It dates from the 1920s. Made by Halstead of Yorkshire, it retains more original mechanical parts than the toyset.

The ride features two wagons, two centaurs, two pigs, four cockerels (or roosters) and four horses.

The ride is laid out symetrically, with the wagons on opposite sides of the dobby from each other, the pigs are opposite each other, etc.
