All kinds of whimsy was put into decorating the trappings of PTC carousel horses of this era. This one has--of all things--a pirate's head in the cantle area!
This shot shows some of the inner row horses as well. Note that they are highly decorated and beautifully carved. There was no effort made to economize by making the less conspicuous horses plain.
